"Grandpa had The Eagle, Dad had 2000AD and now you've got Clint." - Mark Millar
I hadn't heard of Clint before Jonathan Ross mentioned it on Twitter the other night, then it turned up in the shop today. It's the latest attempt at a more "mature" boys' comic, the sort of thing that people have tried every few years ever since 2000AD hit big. Most haven't made it past a year, I remember stuff like Stripped, Revolver, Toxic, Tank Girl (acvtually an anthology comic) and others, which would often just vanish after half-a-dozen issues. This new one has a lot of big-name stuff going for it though. It's edited my Mark Millar and features his Kick Ass 2 and Nemesis. The other two strips are Turf, written by Jonathan Ross and Rex Royd, written by Frankie Boyle. It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts and indeed, how long they keep sending it to us. We haven't been sent 2000A in over a year since only one person was buying it and they eventually cancelled their order. Three of the strips are the kind of overtly violent things I don't really enjoy unless there's a massive amount of piss-taking in them, but I really liked the first chapter of Turf. Mixing mobsters with...other things has always been interesting and htis mixes two other things with them, so could potentially be brilliant.
( Clicky to find out the other things. )Oh, we've sold out of Doctor Who Magazine for the first time in ages, I'd like to think it's the power of Sylvester McCoy that's done it.
