Sherlock Holmes.
Jan. 15th, 2014 04:39 pmI enjoyed Sherlock S3, I can see why some people didn't enjoy it, but I don't care.
The documentary on BBC4 afterwards was interesting, even if it missed out stuff like Peter Cushing doing the second series of the sixties BBC show, Tom Baker doing it in the eighties, the Russian one from around the same time and I actually shouted out "THREE!!!" when they said there had been two recent revamps of Holmes for modern audiences.
This also kickstarted my attempts to watch all of the Hounds Of The Baskervilles. I'd gotten as far as the TOm Baker one from 1982. I stupidly put on the 2000 TV Movie with Matt Frewer as Sherlock Holmes and gave up after ten minutes because as much as I love Frewer, he's fucking atrocious in this, just too over the top and like a caricature of Holmes.
Luckily, the Russian one is far, far better and apart from a few performance quirks (which are likely just how some things are played in Russian drama) I'm really enjoying it, about halfway through now.
I continue to love Elementary to bits.
