Been rather ill over the weekend, had to take day off from volunteering and excepting a couple of trips to the shop round the corner, haven't left the house since Friday.

I tried doing ECDL studying, but the old attention problems are back with a vengeance, trying to do a couple excercises a week and just about managing.

So instead I spent much of the weekend finally going back to Final Fantasy 13 and despite it's many problems I'm really enjoying it. I needed something I could zone out to a bit and I'm really only having to think about what I'm doing carefully at boss fights. Twelve hours in and I'm still being very constricted by the narrative and mechanics as to what I can do, I knew this going in and can't wait until I get to freely choose my party members.

Some readers may recall the last Final Fantasy I actually finished was 8. Despite owning 1,2,4,6,7,8,9,10,10-2, and 12. After 8 I never really played any for more than eight hours or so, I had what I'd thought was JRPG burnout but thanks to Persona 3/4 realised was Final Fantasy burnout.

I also had a go at the FF X-2 and Lightning Returns demos. FF13:LR feels like an insane mix of a bit of FF12's movement and combat, FF13's paradigm shift system and FF10-2's dress sphere system. Somehow it manages to make it all work and the game's on my wishlist now.
