Jul. 14th, 2014 04:09 pmSleep patterns are screwed up again, mostly due to the ridiculous hot weather we've had the past week. I've taken to watching movies and things until 3am or later until I'm tired enough to just fall asleep as soon as I go to bed.
Things leaked. I'm not reading or watching them, it's not like when a virtually finished pilot episode leaks like with the Global Frequency and Bionic Woman pilots (Global never went to series and Bionic Woman had a bunch of reshoots and re-edits inthe final aired episode) and although I've watched an unfinished workprint before, that was the McGann TV movie and was years after it aired.
Movies I have watched in the last few days -
Robocop (2014) - perfectly competent three-star action movie, definitely not the disaster I'd been led to believe. Really liked some of the digs at fan expectations and how they played around with certain aspects. Not a patch on the original of course, but enjoyable.
Body Snatchers (1993) - the third cinematic outing for this tale, I'd not seen it since the VHS release. Holds up pretty well, good on average with a couple of really great scenes with the paintings and the speech and lead up to a certain scream. Had forgotten about the huge special effects failure at the end, something of a regular ocurrence in movies around that time.
The Invasion (2007) - the fourth cinematic outing for this tale and again, one internet hyperbole had told me was shite. It wasn't, I prefer it to the 1993 version, they change things up a bit this time round, which does result in an ending some may not like, but I had no trouble with. The cameo was a nice touch.
From worst to best (and worst is still a solid, good movie), I'd rank the four Bosy Snatchers movies 1993, 2007, 1956, 1978 with the latter two being five-star classics.
