Been playing some old PS2 games.
Jul. 18th, 2014 08:44 pmLord Of The Rings:The Third Age, a ten year old game I'd not heard of until Leah mentioned it on Some Other Podcast. I'd heard of the Two Towers and Return Of The King games, which are arcade brawlerts and the Battle For Middle Earth strategy game, but not this, which it turns out...
...is basically Final Fantasy X, except in Middle Earth and less linear. Played a couple of hours now and rather enjoying it. There's a bit of "Oh, you just missed the famous people, if only you'd been here an hour or so earlier." but I don't mind that at all.
Only had quick ten minute goes on the four Bond games to check they work. Goldeneye:Rogue Agent controlled awfully and has the aiming crosshairs two-thirds of the way up the screen which is the strangest position I've ever seen. Nightfire had me mostly using an auto-aiming sniper rifle and driving the car, but seemed competent and Everything Or Nothing and From Russia With Love seemed fun, despite both chucking me right into the game with no options menu or anything which is a horrible stylistic choice for a game.
As for PotC:The Legend Of Jack Sparrow, it would have been mediocre at best, but since I just played through Anarchy Reigns, the combat feels awful.
